Summer coming to an end....

The kids are back in school...ahhh it's so nice. I missed having a reason to send them to bed early. Malery is now bunking with her sisters and as a result, she actually goes to bed without much hassle. Had I known that I would have put her with them ages ago!

We went camping 2 weeks before school started and it was so much fun! I wish we had gone more than once this summer. Travis had 10 days off for vacation and 7 of it we spent up in the mountains. The kids had such a good time, and I enjoyed just visiting with my family. It is amazing what you can live without. I should use that knowledge gained during the camp-out to de-clutter my house!

We have all been anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby horses. Last Christmas we gave the kids 2 miniature horses. We were told the one of the horse was probably pregnant. At the end of May we were sure that the baby was about to arrive any day. Here it is the beginning of September and still no baby. Very frustrating. My brother In-Law is convinced that they are both just fat horses. We will know for sure in December as that is the latest date they should deliver by. Horses are pregnant for about 340 days. Unfortunately we don't know when either horses may have gotten pregnant.

Now that the kids are all in school, that is all except Landon, I need to decide if I should get a job or focus my energies at making money selling my "wares". I would love so much to be able to make money doing what I love, which is sewing!

Mafia Wars is way too addicting!

As I'm sitting here on my couch in the middle of a beautiful summer day, I am wasting time playing this stupid game on facebook called mafiawars. Why? There is really no point to it, there is no skill required, no brains needed...so what is the attraction? Not a clue! Maybe it's because I like to "collect" things. You should see my garage! My sister keeps telling me I need to have a giant garage sale-but I look at the garage and think "what would I sell?". I just like having 'things'. I remember an episode of the show Amazing Stories called: "Gather Ye Acorns" In this episode a man wanted to know how to get rich and was told to never throw anything away. It wasn't until years later when they sold off all he owned did he acquire said riches. I think that idea stuck with me to never throw anything away. I tend to buy items that I'm sure I can resell for a profit...and I have! I once sold a tote full of Star Wars Legos for $150! I paid about $9 at Goodwill (and a big thanks to my cousin David for putting all the pieces together for me) It is experiences like that that keeps me going back for more "junk". And so my garage is full to overflowing! I'm not entirely sure what this has to do with Mafiawars. I do know that I have acquired a lot of items during the course of this senseless game. My advise is to not get hooked on this game. I keep saying I'm not going to log back in and play it...but it continues to draw me back in...speaking of, I have to go, someone just fought me and I need to bank my money before I get robbed again!

Kids say...

I took my oldest 3 kids to Costco to buy them swim suits and to pick up some catfood. The poor cat has been trying real hard to get to the fish. I think the fish knows it too! To save the fish I thought I better remember to get catfood-and I did. The girls and I were at the checkout stand when the cashier told me my total was $52. I told the girls they were expensive dates...to which Trasey replied, "isn't a date a type of raisin?" Love it!

My sister Kayla could write a book with all the funny things that come out of her son Carter's mouth. One of my favorites was from a couple weeks ago. Carter is very proud that he is learning to write his letters and was practicing one day. He was working very hard writing CTR (choose the right). He said outloud, "C" and then wrote a C, then he says, "mom what comes next in CTR?"

Fish?...Food!!

Just a short post...

About 5 minutes after these pictures were taken the poor fish WAS almost fish food. Lucky I was in the room when the cat knocked over the bowl. It was totally cartoon-ish slow motion! I was typing up an email when I turn to look at the cat-just as she tipped over the vase. I had no choice but to play the hero/mom with half my offsprings watching. "Pick it up, pick it up! Just be brave mom!" those where their battle cries on my behalf. I did 'mom-up' and wrestled the slimy fish back into its vase. He lives to swim another day!

Wednesday

If being graded on grammer-what bad marks would you get for begining a sentence using the word "so...". It is often tempting to begin with that little 2-lettered word, but I do find that after re-reading a sentence I find that I can, in fact, do without it. Not always...so....

So, my older 3 girls and I were walking our miniature horses today (I'll have to write about them later). The day was colder than we expected because of the wind [I bet I have really bad grammer...I should write about that too]. We were on our way back to the house when I spotted something shiny on the side of the road (ooooohhhh shiny). I pointed it out to Trasey, my 11 year old, and she promptly picked it up. It was off of a Dodge Ram-maybe part of the wheel hub or something and it had a picture of a ram engraved in it. As she looked it over she proudly exclaimed, "Oh it's perfect for my ram collection" {insert loud laughing here}. Trasey does not have a ram collection. Her comic timing is classic!

Ending the day with a bowl of Icecream

I started out the day, slow as usual. Waking up at the crack of 10. Before I knew it the day had run past me like the Hare passing the Turtle in an endless race. Sometimes I'm the Hare with sudden bursts of brilliant speed, most of the time I'm the Turtle slow and sure (ok, maybe not so sure). It was amazing tonight as 1/3 of my kids were actually asleep before 10:00! I relished the silence by savoring a not so small bowl of Moosetracks Extreme Icecream. One of my very favorites. It consists of chocolate icecream with ribbons of fudge and little chocolate filled chocolate pieces (enough chocolate for ya??) Like my day it was gone before I knew it.
